„18th International Summer School“ Empowers Sustainable Energy Transition

The 18th International Summer School on “Advanced Planning of Affordable, Secure, and Sustainable Energy” is set to take place from August 10th to August 19th, 2023, at the picturesque Ethno village “Čardaci” in Vitez, Bosnia and Herzegovina. This transformative event is organized with the generous support of the European Climate Foundation (ECF) and the EU4 Energy Transition: Covenant of Mayors in the Western Balkans and Türkiye project, co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. In the Western Balkans, the project is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) as part of the Open Regional Fund for South-East Europe: Energy, Transport, and Climate Protection.

The 10-day program will encompass the environment, socioeconomic, legal and technological issues that need to be considered toward the transition to renewable energy and future green growth. Interactive lectures will focus on the topics that are currently of most importance globally and especially to the Southeast Europe. The insights, knowledge and practical experiences of our esteemed international lecturers will undoubtedly enrich and expand the participants’ understanding of advanced energy planning. Some of the lecturers are recognized international experts in the mentioned fields, namely: Sanela Klarić, Rozeta Karova, Aleksandar Mastilović, Goran Čačić, Ognjen Marković, Vedad Suljić and many others.

20 young participants of the Summer School from BiH, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Moldova, Albania, Germany, Turkey and Kosovo will have a unique opportunity to socialize with leading thinkers, to exchange ideas and explore innovative solutions to promote accessible, safe and sustainable energy practices. The Summer School is designed to empower a new generation of energy leaders, equipped to drive positive change and shape the future of energy landscapes. The knowledge and insights gained during the Summer School will be invaluable in the pursuit of a greener and more resilient future for the Southeast Europe region and beyond.
